New Delhi: With a view to benefit children of defence personnel and others studying in Kendriya Vidyalaya, the Cabinet has approved the leasing of defence land to the Kendriya Vidhalaya Sangathan (KVS) at Delhi, Jalandhar and Udhampur Cantt. areas.
At present, the schools has been functioning from a temporary re-appropriated building at these locations.
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the transfer of 7.5 acres of defence land on lease in perpetuity basis at a nominal rent of Re 1- per annum for the construction of Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 4 in Survey No. 408, Jalandhar Cantt.
The Cabinet also approved the transfer of 4 acres of defence land in perpetuity basis for the construction of Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 4 at Kandhar Lines, Delhi Cantt. at a nominal rent of Rs. 1 per annum.
It also approved the transfer of 56 kanals and 19 marlas (7.118 acres) of defence land on lease on long term basis for 30 years renewable for two like terms of 30 years each to for construction of Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 at Udhampur, Jammu & Kashmir at a nominal rent of Rs. 1 per annum.
